“Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by futility, they pass by it with honourable (avoidance).” [25:72]
"Atiqah, awak salahlah!" Bob shook her head. "Kredit tu duit yang keluar, lah!"
"Mana ade! Saya baca dalam buku KHB, Pilihan 4: Perdagangan dan Keusahawanan." I frowned. "Dia kate, kredit tu duit yang kita dapat!"
"Tapi Kak Tiqah, Ubaidah yang buat format bagi laporan Bendahari Pengawas." Hikmah piped in. "Dia tulis kredit tu sebagai duit yang keluar."
"Tapi saya buat betul dah Laporan Kewangan PSFM ni. Betul."
"Saya hafal dulu masa form 3, kredit tu duit yang keluar; debit tu masuk."
"Tak la~"
"Entah lah, Kak Tiqah." Hikmah shrugged. "Tapi Ubaidah tulis kredit tu duit yang keluar."
I walked away from the debate scene and slouched towards my classroom. There is no way credit means the money that we’ve spent! I’ll prove it, even if I lost my head in the process! [I'm exaggerating.]
I glanced around. Where’s a Kamus Dewan when you need one?
I entered the class. Mrs. Chan the Add Math teacher was already seated on her seat. I faced her.
"Cikgu Chan," I asked. "Cikgu tahu tak apa maksud kredit?"
"Hmm." She looked at me thoughtfully. "Saya tak pasti, tapi mungkin maksud dia duit yang keluar kot."
Not you, too!
"Mungkinlah, sebab kad kredit tak boleh nak digunakan kalau dalam akaun bank kita tak ade duit, kan? Entah lah, saya tak pasti."
"Terima kasih, cikgu."
I walked towards my seat and asked Zainab who was tidying up her messy table. I stared at her.
"Zainab."
"Ada apa, Atiqah?"
"Awak tahu tak kredit tu ape?"
"Entah la… Saya tak ambil Akaun."
"Lol, kan kita pernah belajar dalam KHB dulu!"
"Saya tak ingat la. Haha." She grinned apologetically. I sighed. "Thanks."
Nik entered the class a short while later. "Nik, cuba teka." I ceased her in her track. "Kredit tu duit yang keluar or duit yang masuk."
"Keluar." She replied. "Kredit start dengan K. K untuk keluar."
"Bertuah punya budak!"
I got back home and asked my sister about it. "Kredit tu duit yang keluar, kan?" She voiced out.
"Mana ade!" I was annoyed. "Ika buat Laporan Kewangan PSFM and letak kredit as duit yang masuk. Ika bagi ke Mlmh Diana untuk check. Dia tak betulkan pun. Betullah apa yang Ika buat!"
"Tapi kenapa lepas habis sesebuah cerita, dia letak kredit dekat akhir~ sekali? Kredit mestilah keluar!"
"Tak masuk akal!" I frowned. "Tu credit maksud lain! Credit juga bermaksud ucapan terima kasih atau penghargaan."
"Entah lah."
"It’s like, ‘I credit my thanks to my parents and teachers.’!"
"Ye lah, ye lah…"
"Tak percaya? Bak sini Kamus Dewan!"
"Tu," she gestured lazily towards her table. I took it in a flash and opened the page 711 and scanned for the entry: kredit.
"Kredit," I read out. "Wang yang dipinjamkan… beli dulu kemudian baru bayar… Butir perakaunan… Apa ke bende kamus ni?" I closed it with a smack. "Tak faham langsung!"
I flipped towards page 279. "Debit." I read out again. "Catatan jumlah wang yang dikeluarkan daripada akaun bank seseorang!" I smacked it shut.
"AHA!~" I shouted in triumph. "I was right!~" I swirled around and faced Mir with a huge grin on my face. "Told ya."
Mir mentally smacked her forehead and exited our bedroom. I could actually read her mind that she found arguing with me is totally pointless.
